Pink Party

After the pageant, we host our Mr. Pink Party where all of the proceeds go to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. The University of Wisconsin – Madison hosted this benefit party in order to fund-raise money for breast cancer research and prevention, and to promote breast cancer awareness. Attendees purchased admission tickets prior to the event and were highly encouraged to wear pink to help spread awareness about breast cancer. Pink ribbons were also sold for a dollar at the door and a donation box was placed there too. The Pink Party event brought in about 200 attendees from the multicultural Greek community, Asian student organizations, and the general public. This event was publicized through Facebook, emails, and flyers. Marketing the event also included word of mouth and attending other student organization’s general body meeting. From this fundraising, we were able to raise $577 for the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade to increase breast cancer research.  ...

Mr. Pink 2014

This year the University of Wisconsin-Madison Colony Chapter hosted our second annual Mr. Pink Pageant to promote breast cancer awareness and prevention, as well as promote our two pillars of service and leadership. Mr. Pink represents a student who has a love for serving his community, promotes a positive self-image, and encourages a healthy lifestyle. Contestants for the pageant competed in three rounds consisting of: best two pick-up lines, a talent portion, and interview round to be the next Mr. Pink. This year we had total of five contestants, each with leadership roles in their own student organizations and community. We also had three special guest judges: Argyle Wade, the Associate Dean of Student Life; Jacqueline DeWalt, the Director of the Pre-college Enrichment Opportunity Program for Learning Excellence (PEOPLE); and Megan Pepper, the Multicultural Greek Council Adviser. The Mr. Pink Pageant educated a total of 70 attendees from the multicultural Greek community, Asian student organizations, and the general student body about breast cancer prevention, breast cancer research, and the latest statistics on how breast cancer has affected us nationwide and within in our multicultural community. Congratulations to Lewis Elder of the Kappa Rho chapter of Phi Beta Sigma at UW- Madison for being crowned the new Mr. Pink! A video was created to support this effort....
