Fall 2014 Rush: Don’t just find yourself, Create yourself

Fall 2014 Rush: Don’t just find yourself, Create yourself

We welcome you to join the sisters of alpha Kappa Delta Phi at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for this week-long rush period — your chance to get to know the sisters and learn more about the FIRST and ONLY internationally recognized Asian-interest sorority and the largest in the United States! alpha Kappa Delta Phi was founded on February 7, 1990 by fourteen women who wanted to create an organization where women could participate in the Greek System while advocating for their culture. Our five pillars revolve around the vision of those fourteen women; they are sisterhood, scholarship, service, leadership, and Asian/Asian-American awareness. The values of our pillars are instilled into our members who are encouraged to challenge stereotypes, resist oppression, and make a positive impact on the community. As the ONLY internationally recognized Asian-interest sorority, alpha Kappa Delta Phi is leading the way in creating a stronger Asian/Asian-American presence at each university where a chapter is located. Wisconsin aKDPhi at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is the only Asian-interest sorority in the state. Though we are Asian-interest, we are NOT Asian-exclusive. The sorority is composed of highly motivated women with diverse backgrounds, interests, and fields of study. Each woman, however, shares a strong bond of love, friendship, and sisterhood. Through a supportive network of over 5,000 sisters from 48 collegiate chapters and multiple alumnae associations all over the world, each woman can strive to fulfill with excellence her personal, academic, and career goals. What is Rush? Rush offers a perfect opportunity to explore all groups on campus. Keep an open mind and become well acquainted with all groups on campus before determining which one is best for you. alpha Kappa Delta Phi Rush is a fun-filled week of scheduled activities designed for YOU, the rushee, to learn more about αΚΔΦ. Kappa New Member Neophyte Presentation

We were ecstatic to reveal our newest class, the Kappa KilOwatts at our 2nd neophyte presentation. Our 8 new members had been working hard to create a coming out show in which they serenaded and greeted other Greek organizations on campus and recognized their bigs and New Member Educator, Theresa Balinghasay. Our newest members finally revealed themselves to campus as the active house and WI aKDPhi alumnae supported them. Please welcome them to the Greek community if you see them around campus!  Our neophyte presentation solidified our presence on campus. It was great to be able to showcase not only our new members but also the support provided by the active house and the rest of our chapter. In Greek unity, we greeted all other organizations on campus and put on a great...

At this Rush event, facilitators Alysha Huynh, Tiffani Huynh and Dominique Tan worked with the brothers of Chi Sigma Tau to organize a potluck which consisted of not only American food, but food from the diverse cultures that we all come from. After getting a taste of everything, we told the rushees why we decided to go Greek and what we love about...
